Dr. Yanica Faustin

Senior Consultant

Yanica Faustin, PhD (she/her) is a Senior Consultant at Advancing Health Equity, where she supports the design and delivery of equity-centered strategies that improve health outcomes and strengthen organizational culture. With expertise in maternal and child health, reproductive justice, and equity-driven research methods, she helps clients translate data into actionable insights, develop robust evaluation models, and embed antiracist practices into programs and policies.  

Dr. Faustin is a recognized expert on severe maternal morbidity inequities affecting Black birthing people across nativity groups in the United States. She brings extensive experience facilitating community-based research, methodology and leadership workshops, impact evaluations, and the development of frameworks that center marginalized voices and advance equity in practice.  

She earned her PhD in Maternal and Child Health with a minor in Sociology from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, her MPH in Community Health Education from UNC Greensboro, and her BA in Biology and Ethical Genetics from Colby College. Dr. Faustin lives in North Carolina with her wife and three children.
