In Equity in the Center’s ground breaking-report, Awake to Work to Woke, race equity is defined as “the condition where one's racial identity has no influence on how one fares in society”. In order to build a racial equity culture, organizations must internally address structural racism and inequities. This requires transformative change with regards to organizational mindsets, policies and practices. Within healthcare, building a racial equity culture is crucial to addressing healthcare disparities.
